CONTEXT
Cityx is an educational city-builder that combines learning mathematics with fun gameplay, designed for 4th and 5th-grade students.
Players must expand their city by recruiting citizens with specific skills in various fields. These skills are unlocked by solving math problems tailored to the context and the player's progress.
The main challenge was figuring out how to make a game both educational and fun. To keep players engaged, several elements were implemented, including:
- Endearing characters
- Interactive possibilities
- Friendly graphics
- Friendly competitiveness
- Gradual difficulty curve
- Intrinsic and extrinsic rewards
