Project Context
The project consists of level design on an existing game while adhering to the game's standards. To do this, we used Ahorn and Everest.
Our Game
We chose to create a level for the famous 2D platformer game: Celeste.
Our level is located in the middle of the game, for those who are familiar: just before the end of the hotel level, when M. Oshiro chases Madeline.
The main mechanics include M. Oshiro and the introduction of Spaces Jams.
Our level respects the lore of the story, the difficulty at this point in the game, the graphic style, and the consideration of obstacles already encountered by the player or not.
Additionally, we have adhered to the four important criteria of level design, which are:
-
Progressive learning and difficulty level.
-
The lore of the story blending with the original narrative.
-
Signaling of objectives/hidden passages that the player may encounter.
-
Changes in emotion and pace to provide the player with calm moments and more challenging ones.
